3.13.2010 - The Final Show
Note: I've got at least three reasons for
not having put up this show: (1) It's not a very good recording. The
voices (as seemed to be the norm with me, George, Mike and Teker) are buried in
the mix; (2) My performance sounds pretty bloody awful at times. Mostly
that's because people were running into me or singing with me with their arms
draped across my shoulders (which I'm not complaining about...I'll never
forget in particular Casey Firkin, Billy Brett and Mike Chiarello singing with
me on several songs!) and sometimes literally knocking my hands away from the
guitar; and (3) Because listening to this recording cannot possibly communicate
the emotion and electricity that crackled through the Little Grill that evening.
It's kind of like Woodstock '69...if you weren't there, you can't really
understand what it was like.
That said, there are some folks who've faithfully followed BOK online from
hundreds and even thousands of miles away for a long time...some of whom have
now switched their "allegiance" to Fear + Whiskey (and who wait ever so
patiently for the day when that band plays live or records something)...and a
number of these same persons would like (and perhaps even expect) to hear the
show after three months (it seems like years ago).
I know that there are at least three other
recordings of this show. I hope to get hold of all them one day so that I
can create a matrix recording and perhaps put the show on compact disc.
Till then...
Anyway, thanks ever so much for the support you gave Book Of Kills over the
years, whether it was moral or financial or both. I hope these recordings
will bring you some joy. I know the memories of this show burn bright in
my heart and mind.
